Last Thursday was both my actual birthday and also my one year blog birthday! Yay!!!
I turned older than I’d like to admit on Thursday. I had such a lovely birthday, which started with being woken up by my babies and MrLovely bringing me a birthday cake and singing me Happy Birthday. Family and friends visited and we had a lovely evening with the children and a (not great) vegan takeaway. I count my blessings on a very regular basis for my friends and family and believe I am very fortunate.
I asked for donations to the Global Foundation Of Peroxisomal Disorders. The gifts I did receive were really thoughtful and the wrapping was spot on (lots of recycled brown paper and paper from Who Gives A Crap toilet paper. Perfect.
My parents went above and beyond (as always) and sourced another basket like the one they gave me at Christmas because I love it so much. They picked it up from a local antique centre. It’s the perfect size and shape to store all of my whittling projects and tools in. I love the effort she made to make sure there was no plastic waste. All of the gifts were wrapped in tissue paper that she’d been saving back and tied with string.
Tor also made sure there was no plastic waste by reusing our Who Gives A Crap paper.
At the weekend, my best friend, Tor, hosted a vegan dinner party for me. The food was delicious. She made a mushroom curry and a vegetable curry, along with rice, dahl, samosas and naan bread. Tor is an extremely gifted chef and really enjoys hosting events.
The company was lovely and there was lots of laughter. It had been so long since we’d had a dinner party and all caught up. As always, time flies. We’ll be doing it again for MrLovevly’s birthday next month.
It’s now been a year since I started my blog and posted my first ever post on A Life Of Lovely. I wrote about reusable bags and ditching plastic.
I’ve learnt so much in the space of a year. I have managed to raise my domain authority to 29 (which probably doesn’t mean a lot to you, unless you’re also a blogger). I’ve worked with some fantastic brands and have met some really lovely people. I’ve been an accredited blogger for LoveLula since last year. I no longer feel like a fraud when I tell people my time isn’t free, I work really hard on my website, doing my admin, taking photos and writing. I value the worth of both my work and my blog.
February is a really busy month in our household. Soph is 15 on Monday and LissyLu turns 12 the following Saturday. Combine that with Valentine’s day, it’s a crazy month!
Hope you’re having a great February. Thanks for reading.
