It’s A New Dawn – Organic Skincare

I’ve recently discovered a little family run business tucked away at the foot of the Preseli Hills in Pembrokeshire.  Their own organic products are made in their own little workshop.

New Dawn are kindly offering a 10% discount to all readers.  Enter the code ALifeOfLovely at the checkout.

Family Values

Dawn’s story really resonated with me because of its similarities that led me to my own green beauty values.

New Dawn was born through Dawn’s passion for organic living and her desire to be home when her two boys finished school each day.  It started following the sale of their health food shop in 2003.  Dawn initially began experimenting with scents and recipes to help people with their skin and hair trouble.  Now, fourteen years later, Dawn the founding director of the successful business that not only employs her family, but their staff includes some local ladies.

Dawn’s son, Aled deals with the marketing and digital side of the business.  He says it was lovely having his mum at home when he came home from school (and didn’t mention about it making it tricky to bunk off, nooooo).

The Products

New Dawn Organic Skin and Hair Care stock a range of products from their own natural handmade soaps, moisturisers, deodorants, shampoos and conditioners, to wooden skin brushes and bamboo washcloths.  They even stock my favourite toothpaste, Truthpaste.  You can see the whole range of products in their online shop.  Shopping with New Dawn is super easy and you can pay either by a debit card or PayPal.  The products I ordered came within two days of ordering, which I was really impressed by.

Haver Scrub For HaverHub

I’ve been using their Fresh Coffee & Turmeric Scrub soap over the last week.

coffee and turmeric soap

Freshly ground Fairtrade coffee beans and organic turmeric are combined with Glycerine and Aloe Vera to make this daily cleansing scrub an aromatic exfoliating, rejuvenating wake-up experience that you’ll really want to get out of bed for!

The smell is quite mild, of coffee.  I’ve been finding the soap an amazing exfoliator.  It’s coarse enough to use in place of a brush but gentle enough not to damage my skin.  I love this soap.  Tor took the other bar home with her the other day.  She’s also in love with it.

I also have the Rose Geranium & Oatmeal Scrub soap which I’m excited to try.  It smells amazing.  I love rose geranium, it’s one of my favourite essential oils.

Organic Rose Geranium essential oil and organic oatmeal are combined with Glycerine and Aloe Vera to make this daily cleansing scrub a relaxing exfoliating rose scented aromatherapy experience that will really help you unwind at the end of a busy day.

£1 from the sale of each soap brick goes to Haverhub; A community interest company doing great things in Pembrokeshire.

Cream Deodorant

rose geranium cream deodorant

As you know, I’m a fussy one.  I have high expectations regarding deodorants.  This cream deodorant pasts muster.  It’s completely natural (obviously – I wouldn’t use a deodorant that wasn’t).  The fragrance is rose geranium with hints of something citrusy.  It worked effectively throughout the day and I’d recommend it.  In fact, I’m wearing it as I type this.

An extremely effective blend of botanic & mineral ingredients this cream neutralises odour and discourages excessive moisture while nourishing underarm skin. Made with our antibacterial and antifungal formula, it is fast absorbing, non-greasy and ideal for sensitive skin under arms and for feet also.
