As August is drawing to a close, I’m thinking back to my summer. I wanted to share with you My Summer Favourites 2024, There have been so many highlights, especially because we went away in May so it felt like a super long one for us. I’ve discovered many favourites throughout the last three months and I thought I’d share them with you in a blog post.
Turmeric Rub

I have my own beauty brand that I launched back in January, called Blooming Lovely Botanics, and during the summer I launched my Turmeric Rub. I created this originally to help with my mum’s arthritis and never intending to get the certification to sell it but she absolutely loved it and it helped her so much that I thought I’d launch it so it could help other people that are suffering with aches and pains. It has wintergreen oil in it, which is natures aspirin. It’s so good!
Amaranthine Superactive Day Cream

I love everything about this moisturiser from the packaging to the name, Amaranthine! It comes packaged in a glass bottle with a pump top. You can buy moisturiser refills to pop in the bottle, rather than having to buy the whole thing over and over. This moisturiser contains some beautiful ingredients, including some that are upcycled. It’s luxurious yet lightweight so perfect for summer. I’ve been wearing this daily either under just my spf or under my makeup. It sits beautifully and creates a wonderful base. The fragrance is one of my favourite things about it. It’s very delicate, so not overpowering, but it smells fresh and (I’m rubbish at describing smells!!) and maybe slightly floral.
UpCircle Shampoo & Conditioner

When I think of UpCircle, I always think of their coffee scrub and I’ve never been a big fan of coffee ground in skincare, regardless of how good they are for your skin. It’s a texture thing. Anyway, a good friend recommended their shampoo and conditioner to me and sent me a little sample of each to try and since then, I’ve been hooked! They are actually amazing! You only need a tiny amount of each product, they smell incredible (like rosemary) and leave my hair looking and feeling great! If you haven’t tried the shampoo and conditioner yet, don’t walk, run!!
Strawberry Picking

This will always be a summer favourite. It’s something we used to do as children, with our children and now with our grandchildren. It’s a perfect start of summer tradition. I love that they too fill themselves with strawberries as we walk around. I almost think a better method is a weigh the children at the start and finish of the picking!
Family Time

I’m forever grateful for my family and we’ve managed to spend lots of time together this summer. We’ve had weddings, camping, barbecues, etc. I may be biased, but our children are all pretty brilliant.
Camping

I used to miss this every year because of my agoraphobia but I’ve joined in for the last two years and it’s been brilliant. My favourite things are to sit around the campfire in the evenings with our family and friends and just chat and toast marshmallows. It makes me feel very blessed. Where we go is very close to Glastonbury so I may have popped in and bought a couple of beautiful silver pieces of jewellery. We also visit Wells and I become like the pigeon woman from Home Alone because I buy wild bird seed and go to town feeding them and they end up on my hands, landing on my head, everywhere.
Manicures

I’ve been having regular manicures throughout the summer. They last at least three weeks and I adore having pretty nails. In my experience, I don’t bother getting manicures because I find I can usually do a better job myself but, I’ll admit it, my nail woman is far better than me at doing them. She’s actually brilliant!
Torquay With My Mum

My mum and I went on a mini break to Torquay earlier in the month. I adore spending time with her, we spend the whole time laughing and being silly. It was a perfect tonic. The weather was mostly beautiful and Torquay is really nice seaside town.
Treasure Hunting At Car Boot Sales

We did a couple of car boot sales before the camping trip and A) get rid of some things we didn’t want and B) make a bit of money. It was a lot of fun. I love having a mooch around a car boot sale and I picked up this little porcelain dog from £1. I remember those from when I was little, though they were a little before my time.
Kittens!!!!

It’s been a summer of kittens! My neighbour and bestie got two kittens for her children over the summer and my oldest son also got two kittens for his house. Oh my goodness, they’re all so cute! I love playing with them and watching them grow. This one of called Firefighter. She was named that because my son let his three year old name her. It was either Firefighter or Recycling Lorry so I think she got the better name.
Anyway, these are my highlights. There are many more wonderful things about my summer and I could talk about them forever. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading My Summer Favourites 2024. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful summer too.
