Goodbye depressing winter, hello sunny spring! We’re finally at the point where we’re seeing a little bit more daylight, and the inspiration to get up and go is strong with us. Depending on where you live, there may not be beautiful hills and fantastic nature walks around, so you have to make do with your back garden. This isn’t a bad thing at all, you just need to work a little bit harder to get your garden ready for relaxation and some quality time out in the sunshine. Here are some ideas to consider.
Plant Some Spring Flowers
Spring is the time to get your garden in shape ready for the summer. For an instant bloom, purchase some spring flowering perennials and plant them in your garden bed. Foxglove is a very perky flower, but just make sure you’ve got you’ve enough sun for them to grow. If plants aren’t your thing, join the vegetable garden revolution and plant some seeds, such as potatoes, carrots, and beetroot, to keep you sustained for the rest of the year. It will help save you some money too if you get it right!
Get Ready For Barbecue Season
Looking a little further ahead, you might find your garden is in such a state that it’s not ready to hold any parties. Look at your grass and get it ready for the summer months. Take the time to evaluate your garden and see if it’s getting enough moisture, and start re-seeding the bare patches, and use a good quality fertilizer.
Create A Relaxing Haven
For those who are somewhat antisocial, you can use your garden as a place to escape to when it all gets a bit too much! Make the most of the spring months before it gets unbearably hot, and invest in some quality outdoor furniture for you to lounge and relax. If you spend the winter daydreaming of cocktails or coffee on the lawn, make sure you’ve got the best furniture to go with it.
Make A Space For The Kids
If you have children desperate to get out and play, and you have space, then it’s an ideal opportunity to invest in some kiddies playsets. You can invest in a good quality outdoor play set for relatively cheap. Or you can go the whole hog and get a huge inflatable swimming pool. We don’t all have the money to build a swimming pool in our back garden, so you’re going to have to use your imagination a little bit!
The great thing about springtime in your garden is that you can see the flowers bloom finally, the weather is decent enough for you to enjoy some time outside, but it’s an opportunity for everyone to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air. Whether you are preparing for barbecue season in the summer, looking for somewhere to relax, or you need somewhere for the kids to get outside for five minutes, your garden is the ideal space! So, enjoy the great outdoors!
