Casual Chic This Summer: What Your Wardrobe Needs Right Now

When you put a casual outfit together, the idea is that you’re not putting too much thought into any one part of the outfit. You’re just putting something on, nice and easy as it is, and carrying off that kind of lowkey, effortless look that makes you feel good in your clothes.

However, when the summer comes around with all the heat, humidity, and sweating, this casual idea goes out of the window! No longer can you just throw any old thing on. You have to think carefully about whether or not it’ll bring you closer to heat exhaustion than you ever wanted to be!

But seeing as we’re not quite into the summer yet, now’s the time to save your wardrobe the trouble for this summer. Casual chic is possible, even when you can’t get your mind off of sweat patches!

Casual Chic This Summer: What Your Wardrobe Needs Right Now

Flowy Fabrics

Nothing says summer chic like a good bit of flowy fabric! Make sure you’ve got a few options in your wardrobe for the upcoming warmer months. Something that’s a little looser fitting, made of cotton (so it’s breathable), and comes in a light or pastel colour.

And yes, these tops can be long sleeves too, if you really fancy. They don’t need to be short sleeve with ruffles around the edges – you know the kind that make it feel a bit awkward and itchy sitting around the armpits?

Instead, take a look at some made in italy tops, as well as swing tops that come with straps, and even a very light cardigan that could double up as a top on its own, if you wanted it too.

More Prints and Patterns

They’re the best thing to wear when the sun is out! Flower and leaf patterns, wildlife prints of foxes and kingfishers, as well as simple polka dots and stripes.

If you don’t have many print or patterned items in your wardrobe right now, this is your excuse to go out and grab as many as you can get your hands on!

And when you wear them, feel free to double up on patterns and mix and match them. If that seems a bit too loud for you though, you can also match the patterns with a plain item, like a dotty or flowery top with a simple pair of denim shorts or a nude skirt.

Bottoms That Let You Get Your Legs Out

If you don’t like to usually, this summer is a chance to make a change! With legs being the longest parts of our bodies, it’s a good idea to let them breathe when it’s warm out.

And you can do so in any which way you like, whether you’ve got the desire to break out some short shorts or you’d prefer a maxi skirt that lets the cool air circulate as you walk.

Casual chic can be hard to achieve in the summer! But you can stop that cranky and sweaty feeling by wearing the items above.
