It’s springtime! You know what that means! It’s time to get a load of cleaning jobs done around the house.
And while a lot of us roll our eyes and try to play down the to-do list, for some people, this is the chance to dig into the dirty corners and finally get them all sorted out – how exciting!
But no matter which camp you fall into, there’s an elephant in the room that we need to talk about right now: your property’s exterior. Because it’s probably the dirtiest place of all, and it’s also probably been a long time since you gave it a clean!
So let’s make a difference this springtime. If you’re planning to get a proper deep clean done before June (when there’s other work to be done!), here are 3 areas just outside of your home that you’ll want to tackle as well.
The Drains
External drains can be a nightmare. All matter of things can end up flowing down them, from moss to grime to dead leaves and rocks. And because of that, they can get blocked up and need an emergency service.
During your spring clean, it’s a good idea to pour boiling water down any and all external drains. Not only will this help to clear them now that we’re getting a bit more rainfall, but it’ll help stop any further blockages from occurring too.
The Roof
When was the last time you were up on your roof? If it’s taken you more than 30 seconds to think about the answer, it’s been too long! Alternatively, the answer might be that you’ve never actually gotten up to roof level, and that’s a bit of an issue too.
Of course, you don’t have to scale your house every other week to make sure the roof is clean. Not only would this be a waste of time and energy, but it can be dangerous too.
Instead, invest in the services of a roof cleaning team and get the pros to do the dirty work here! It’s a one off investment you’re probably not going to have to think about again for a good 2 or 3 years yet, so it’s not too expensive to consider either.
The Shed
How often do you clear up the inside of your shed? Maybe once a year, after the summer kick is over and you’re getting ready for the plants to droop again?
If so, you might want to double check what’s going on in there now we’re into springtime.
And yes, you might want to bring a black bag and a pair of grabbers so you don’t have to touch anything by hand!
Wildlife can end up making a home inside sheds during the off-season, with everything from nest materials to droppings to carcasses. Clean it out now so you don’t get a stinking shed when the weather warms up!
