A new year can mean a chance to jazz up your jewellery collection. What does that mean in 2020. I thought I’d share this post with you to let you know the hottest trends in jewellery this year.
The fashion shows this season have been very colourful. The brighter the better. No longer were they sticking to just silver and gold, this season has been seeing plenty of saturated hues. A great way of adding colour to your jewellery is by using gemstone jewellery, for example, Pomegranate have some beautiful pieces. I love that with gemstones, the stones have real meaning and energy to them. There have also been floral and beaded pieces seen on the catwalk. Don’t be afraid to mix up your metals and stones!
The Single Earring
This takes me back to the 90s when boys used to just wear a single earring as a statement. Guess what? It’s back! Earrings are going solo this season! Lots of designers and retailer brands and selling single earrings if you want to jump onto this trend. Go bold with a hanging and dangling earring.
When have hoops ever not been in fashion? The great thing is, they go with everything! This year sees them being big! Bigger than before and in all different materials. The variety in drop (the distance from the bottom of your lobe, to the bottom of your earring) differs greatly. They go from sleeper to shoulder grazer. Which would you wear? I’m really more of a sleeper girl, myself. I’m not very bold when it comes to fashion and usually tend to err on the side of safe. Hoops are so easy to wear and look great with most outfits.
The chain link pieces look to be an important part of this season and oversized and chunky chains were spotted all over the spring/summer runways. According to Elle, you can try the trend two different ways: layer pieces together for a chic, messy neck, or opt for a singular heavy-duty statement piece.
Pearls always have been a beautiful classic and sought after addition to anyone’s jewellery box. They always make me think of Audrey Hepburn’s iconic Holly Golightly in Breakfast At Tiffany’s. This season sees them being worn in the form of earrings to layered necklaces. There are both the classic designs of pearl jewellery that you might find in your mum’s jewellery box or there are sleek and new modern designs. Pearls were even seen on headpieces at Khaite.
Chokers are back for Spring 2020! Not so much the fine, delicate ones. Think, “Go bold or go home”. According to Forbes, they also translate into choker length necklaces that are strong in shape but flexible with multiple dangles accenting the entire piece. I’m glad these are in fashion because I think they look really beautiful.
