My June 2022 Favourites

I’ve had another really lovely month, so I wanted to share my June 2022 favourites with you.  It’s felt like quite a quiet month, but it hasn’t been that quiet because we’ve fitted plenty in.  Here’s what I’ve enjoyed.

Judging The Clean Beauty Awards

judging the clean beauty awards

I was selected to be a judge again for the Clean Beauty Awards and spending time caring for my skin is one of my favourite way to spend time so this was an absolute high point for me.  I loved getting my friend and her daughter’s opinion on the products too.  We spread all the products out and gave them all thorough testing.  It was really lovely.  I’ll write a post on all of my wonderful cleansers separately so look out for that blog post.

Street Party For The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Street Party for the Jubilee

We are super lucky to live where we do and our neighbours and us all really enjoy a get-together.  We had a street party to celebrate.  There were barbecues, cakes and drinks flowing.  It was a really lovely afternoon.

Weekend In Torquay

Torquay

We had a weekend in Torquay at the beginning of the month.  It’s named the English Rivera.  It’s a really lovely place and there was my mum and dad, one of my brothers and his partner and myself, MrLovely and Lissy and Oli.  We stayed at the Premier Inn on the seafront which was perfect.  Our room even had a bath, which we all took full advantage of (we only have a shower at home).  There was an airshow on in the neighbouring town so we watched it from the beach and it was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.  I look forward to our next little trip away to Brighton next month.

Crealy Theme Park

Crealy Press Day

This was one of my favourite days ever, I wrote a whole blog post about it here.  It was our Grandson’s first visit to a theme park and Crealy was the perfect destination because it caters to all ages.  It was a press day invite and we were treated so well.  It’s definitely a day I’ll remember forever.

Open Farm Day

Denning's Down Farm

A friend of ours has an organic dairy farm in Devon and we went along to the open day.  It was really interesting.  They had sheep shearing, pond dipping, calves, sheep, duckling, goslings, tractor rides and much more.  It was a really enjoyable afternoon.  I was completely fascinated by the bee hives and the bees.  They had an open hive so you could see in it and watch them all going about their business.

Lilac Cottage Honey

I bought a jar of their delicious honey.

MrLovely and Bodhi

We had Bodhi and Sophie with us and it definitely isn’t a pushchair-friendly farm because it’s incredibly hilly.  It was quite exhausting.  Well worth it though.

Pen Turning

pen turning

I made a pen!  MrLovely makes them on his lathe and he let me have a go.  It took me such a long time and it certainly wasn’t a perfectly turned out pen like the ones he makes but I’m super proud of it.

Sibling Breakfast In West Bay

sibling breakfast

I adore my brothers.  As you probably know, we’re a really close family so it was lovely to meet up with them for breakfast.  We’re all dotted around the southwest so it’s not always easy to plan a get-together like this.  They’re very busy men!  We laughed a lot, ate yummy food and drank coffee.  We went to the Windy Corner Cafe in West Bay, which I can recommend.  It was really busy and there was a bit of a wait on food, which suited us perfectly because we wanted to take our time.

Lissy’s Prom

Lissy's Prom

Lis has now completely finished her secondary education, much to her delight.  She’s off to college in the autumn, which I think will suit her much better.  She looked beautiful in her prom dress, having had her nails and hair done.  She went in a Bentley Continental which belonged to a friend of her dad’s.  She was spoiled rotten, as she deserves, and had the best day.  We had a little after-party back at ours, which they all enjoyed.

Step One Boxer Shorts

Step One boxers review

So I bought these on a whim after a recommendation from someone I follow on Instagram and oh my days, they’re so comfortable.  They’re made from bamboo so they’re more sustainable than cotton and I love them.  They’re a bit on the pricey side but I’ll definitely be buying more when they next have a sale on.

Kikkerland Chemistry Flask

Kikkerland Chemistry Flask Review

I actually got this Kikkerland chemistry flask as a gift for a friend’s birthday.  He’s a science teacher.  I needed to share it with you because I was super impressed with it.  The stainless steel flask is hidden inside a faux chemistry book.  It’s really well done and he loved it!  You can get yourself one here.

The Donkey Sanctuary, Sidmouth

The Donkey Sanctuary, Sidmouth

I’ve always wanted to go here and had never got round to going.  We went there with Soph, Ellis and Bodhi last week.  The weather wasn’t the best but we still had a great time.  The donkeys were completely adorable and amused us greatly.  There were so many!  If you’ve never been, I recommend a visit.
