I love face masks. I think it’s a lovely way to spend some downtime. Self-care and skin care at the same time. My daughters and I use them every week. I thought I’d share some of the clean beauty face masks that we use.
Pumpkin And Orange Gel Mask by Ilcsi Skincare
This one comes with quite a large price tag at £39 for 50ml.
Ilcsi’s Pumpkin & Orange Gel Mask contains organic pumpkin, orange, rich herbal oils and honey. It’s perfect for mature skin and replenishes oil and water back into your skin.
Freshly harvested organic pumpkins are an excellent source of beta-carotene and vitamin A, they also contain vitamin B and C, potassium, iron, other minerals and essential fatty acids. Similarly to oranges, they have a high fibre and water content which give the gel mask its pure, marmalade-like texture, while natural carotenoids are responsible for its beautiful colour. Oranges are rich in vitamin C and flavonoids, they have been used as a skin conditioner for ages. We also added scoops of golden honey for extra nourishment and luscious orange oil that has skin firming and anti-depressant qualities.
I love the way this face mask smells, it smells like marzipan. I love the easy application, it glides on with no trouble. It feels really soothing and cool on your skin, which is lovely. I’m not a fan of the large lumps in this facemask. They slid down my skin and fell off. I’d prefer a smoother consistency. This one is available here.
Purifying Facial Mask by Sukin
If you’re a regular on my blog, you’ll know I’m a big fan of Sukin. They’re a really affordable, effective and lovely green brand. I’ve used a few of their face masks over time and I’ve never been disappointed.
This purifying face mask has a kaolin clay base, which is very gentle on the skin. It also contains aloe vera to soothe, rosehip oil (another great one for ageing skin) and jojoba oil to moisturise and hydrate your skin.
I love the price tag of this face mask, it’s super affordable at around £12. The ease of application is fab (I use a makeup brush and brush it onto my skin). I love the smell of this, it smells like cherries and frangipane. It makes my skin feel lovely afterwards and this is one that I’m sure I’ll be repurchasing time and time again. Anti-Pollution Facial Mask by Sukin
Bamboo charcoal, rooibos tea and willowherb target impurities to keep pores clear. Bilberry, white tea and pomegranate impart antioxidants for a healthy glow, while quince aids in limiting shine and reducing the visible appearance of pores.
Another little beauty from Sukin. Again, I apply this with a brush and leave it on for around 15 minutes. This one is perfect for when your skin is misbehaving and being a bit spotty. Bioactive Face Mask for Problem Skin by Turbliss
Instant result for problematic skin suffering from acne or occasional break-outs. Humic and fulvic acids help boost cell renewal and restore normal functioning of the skin. You have to be quite careful with the timing of this face mask. As it boasts such powerful ingredients, it’s important not to leave it on too long. I leave it on for between 7-10 minutes. I love the consistency of this face mask, it’s a really thick one. It’s another one that I apply with a brush and it feels lovely on my skin. This is the perfect face mask for when you’re premenstrual and your skin is problematic. I love the glass jar and cardboard box packaging. The label on the jar is beautiful! Active Manuka Honey Hydrating Gel Mask by Living Nature
I’ve written about this mask before but I couldn’t do a face mask post and not include it. This face mask is lovely for when you want an extra bit of TLC. This is a super gentle mask that you can leave on. Sometimes I leave it on overnight so it can carry on nourishing my skin as I sleep. You can shop the Living Nature range here.
Hibiscus Face Mask by Balm Balm
Balm Balm have very recently changed all of their packagings to glass bottle and jars which is wonderful. My face mask is in the original plastic pot, but you wouldn’t get that now. Their new jar is gorgeous!
This mask contains a combination of brown rice flour, ground hibiscus and rose geranium essential oils. It comes in powder form and you add water to it and mix it into a paste (I always use warm water) before you apply it to your face. I first had the trial size of this face mask but loved it so much I bought the full-size product. Not only is it a lovely face mask, it’s also exfoliating when you remove it. The face I’ve already repurchased is a testament to how much I like it. I’ll be repurchasing when this one runs out too and it’ll be in a glass jar – yay! You can buy this product from here.
Revitalising Mask by Botanicals
Soft french rose clay helps draw out impurities and eliminate dead skin cells. While cold-pressed rosehip and jojoba, rich in essential fatty acids, leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and visibly brighter.
Certified by the soil association, handmade in England, not tested on animals and vegan-friendly, this is a beautifully gentle mask that’s perfect for mature, dry and normal skin.
This mask has been created to nourish the skin’s lower layers and help balance the skin’s acid mantle. French rose clay lifts impurities and removes dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, whilst cold pressed rosehip and jojoba helps keep skin soft and smooth. Also included are sweet smelling rose flower oil, rose geranium oil, camellia oil and shea butter. Skin is left looking visibly brighter and feeling fresh and revitalised.
It feels a little bit like a balm when applying it and I find this one feel so nourishing as soon as it has contact with your skin. I apply it with a brush and leave it on for around half an hour (though 10 minutes is the recommended time). I remove it using a hot flannel (a disposable cloth os recommended but my flannels are purple so it doesn’t leave any noticeable marks). My skin is left feeling so soft and supple.
