When I was offered the chance to review this Crock-Pot Express Multi-Cooker, I jumped at the chance.  Cookware is very exciting to me!  The brand is well known and their products are of a great quality.

The large 5.6L capacity is ideal for families or entertaining a crowd and a recipe book is included to inspire your inner chef. Endless possibilities from the one-pot cooking experts.

I had never used a pressure cooker now so I wasn’t sure what to expect.  When it first arrived (I stayed home the day it was due in anticipation.  I read the entire manual (thank goodness it wasn’t long because I have a short attention span and I almost never read instructions.  The instructions were clear and simple to follow.  With the product and instruction manual, you also get a cookbook packed with ideas to get you started.

The First Cook

The first time I used it, I decided to make a beef bourguignon, which usually takes hours in my slow cooker.  Having read the cooking times, this said it would cook in 75 minutes.  Really??

I love the fact you don’t have to brown anything on the hob, you can do it all in the Crock-Pot.  I added the beef and vegetables to the cooker on saute/brown and moved in around using the plastic utensil provided.  Once it was done, I added the liquid and stock.  Closed the lid, checked everything was correct (steam setting was closed, the lid was correctly shut) and pressed the meat/stew button, changed the time to 70 minutes and pressed go.

I’m not sure how pressure cooking works, but this bit here makes a whooshing noise for a minute or so then it just cracks on with cooking it.

Once the beeping has let you know the cooking has finished, you (using a set on tongs) turn the no steam to steam to allow for the steam to escape, enabling you to be able to open the cooker.

Upon opening the cooker, I added a little cornflour to thicken the gravy, again using the saute/brown setting and voila.  Beef bourguignon.

The meat was tender as if I’d been cooking it for hours and I was completely in awe.

More Cooking

I’ve had the Crock-Pot Express Multi-Cooker for around a week now and have cooked with it most days.  It’s even great for cooking dumplings.  Last Sunday, I cooked a whole roast chicken in it!
