Give Your Skin The Love It Deserves!

Give Your Skin The Love It Deserves!

We all have our own routines and preferences when it comes to taking care of our skin. No matter what it is that you do to look after your skin, we all want to make sure that it’s as healthy and beautiful as possible. Of course, doing that can often be a little more challenging than you might think at first. The truth is that skincare can actually be a pretty complex process and it takes more than just regular moisturising to keep it looking great and feeling healthy. A lot of people struggle to know where to actually start when it comes to properly taking care of their skin, so, in order to help you do just that, here are some ways that you can start to give your skin just a little more love.

Use The Right Products

The sheer volume of makeup products that are out there to choose from can be seriously overwhelming. It’s enough to leave a lot of people feeling as though they have absolutely no idea where to start! They feel as though they can’t deal with the sheer volume of choice and they end up just picking the first thing that they see. However, everyone’s skin is different, and every product is different. If you want the best possible results, then you’ve got to find the products that suit you. This means that you’re probably going to need to do some experimentation. Not only that but there are certain things that you can look out for when it comes to trying to find the right products. Things like skin creams with active ingredients like retinol are a good place to start since you can be sure that they will have the kind of effect that you’re looking for. The best way to find the products that you really need is simply to do your research. Find reviews of products from people with similar kinds of skin to you and find which products are the most highly regarded. That way you can be sure that you don’t end up wasting your time or your money.

Stay Hydrated

If you’re not properly hydrated then your skin is just going to end up looking dry, oily, and you’re much more likely to end up breaking out in spots. The reality is that most of us are simply terrible at being able to stay hydrated throughout the day. Sure, many of us drink a lot of fluids but generally, those take the form of things like tea, coffee, energy drinks, and alcohol. All of those might feel as though they’re quenching your thirst, but the truth is that they are just going to end up making you even less hydrated than you were in the first place. The only way you can guarantee that you’re getting properly hydrated is to drink water. Drinking at least two litres of water every day is the best way to be sure that you not only feel your best but that your skin stays as soft and healthy as possible.

Get Enough Sleep

It’s a tragic thing that so many of us end up feeling as though we have to cut back on the amount of sleep that we’re getting in order to fit everything in throughout the day. Sure, modern life can be incredibly busy, and the idea of being able to fit everything it can be something of a challenge for many of us. But trying to get everything done without a decent night’s sleep is just going to make life much harder. And if you’re wandering around feeling exhausted then that’s going to show on your face pretty clearly. Your skin is going to end up greasy and pale with huge bags under your eyes. Sure, your skin might not be the first thing you think of when it comes to feeling exhausted, but it does have a pretty significant impact on it that you need to be aware of. No matter how busy you are, there are always things that you can cut back on for the sake of a decent night’s sleep.

Quit Smoking

quit smoking

The fact that smoking is terrible for you shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise to anyone. After all, we all know just how dangerous cigarettes can be. But not only can they be incredibly damaging to your overall health, but cigarettes can also wreak havoc on your skin. Not only are they going to turn the skin on your fingers and gross browny-yellow colour, but it’s going to cause dry skin and wrinkles that will age you much sooner than you might like. Now, unlike most things on this list, trying to quit smoking can often be incredibly difficult. If that’s something that you’re trying to deal with, remember that there are plenty of services out there that you can use in order to make the whole process just a little bit easier. Keeping your skin young and healthy might not be the primary reason that you want to quit smoking, but it’s yet another good reason for you to finally break the habit that can do you some serious damage.

Take A Makeup Break

There is nothing wrong with makeup; makeup is fantastic! Sure, some people might not be the biggest fans of it, but that’s their personal decision. For those who do like, makeup can be a wonderful way to look the way you want, express yourself, and give yourself that extra boost of confidence that you really need. However, a lot of people end up becoming pretty dependent on makeup in order to be able to do something as simple as leaving the house or going to work without feeling self-conscious. Not only can wearing makeup every single day lead to issues with your self-perception but it can actually do some genuine damage to your skin as well. Wearing makeup every day means that your skin never gets the chance to breathe which can lead to clogged pores, dry skin, and even breakouts. Of course, when you have some kind of breakout then your first instinct might be to try and cover it up with more makeup. However, learning how to cover acne without concealer can be pretty valuable to not only help you feel more confident but to do so without falling into the trap of becoming overly dependent on makeup. Going makeup free for just a couple of days a week can make a huge difference not only to your levels of confidence but to the health of your skin as a whole. If you feel as though you can’t even leave the house without putting on makeup, then that’s a clear sign that your relationship with it might not be all that healthy.

One of the most important things to remember is that everyone’s skin is different. In the same way that no two people are going to react to a particular diet in exactly the same way, everyone’s skin is going to respond to certain treatments and behaviours differently. If you really want to find the perfect ways to give your skin the love that it deserves, you might need to experiment a little bit. However, the ideas in this list are a great place to start because they all have a pretty uniformly positive impact on your skin no matter what. You might find that some things are more impactful than others, but trying these things is almost certainly going to help your skin to look and feel a whole lot better.

You hit the nail on the head there when you said ‘find a product that suits you’. I agree this is where so many of us have gone wrong. Good article xx
