I know I’m doing a non-beauty gift guide this year, as I always do (which will be published this week – so keep your eyes peeled), but I thought I’d put together a green beauty gift guide too. I’ve been completely passionate about green and clean beauty for 8 years now. I haven’t used a toxic deodorant or a harsh cleanser in all this time and I rarely get spots, bar the odd hormonal one, and my skin is feeling great. Along with this, I’m supporting small, often family-run businesses, which I love. Here are some products you might like to gift this year.
Pretty Special Beauty
I’ve tried a few products from Pretty Special Beauty and it’s one of my favourites. Their products really are pretty special. Lisa, the owner, is a trained aromatherapist so aromatherapy is at the heart of everything she makes. This Beauty Sleep Pillow Mist has been instrumental in my getting to sleep this week! I’ve tried most of Lisa’s products and, not only do they all smell heavenly, but they are also very effective and gentle on this skin. The way Lisa packages her products is just wonderful. It feels like a real treat. Also, fun fact, I’m never far from a bottle of Pretty Special Beauty hand sanitiser during these days of covid!
Minimum
Minimum is a brand that is quite new to me. Emma, the founder, has a PhD in Chemistry and taught the subject at secondary school. After not being able to find the right product for her skin, she decided to make her own. This super gentle Essential Cleanser contains a blend of gentle oils and shea butter. It’s perfect for removing makeup and other impurities.
My teenage daughter (alittlelifeoflovely) has been using Mimimum’s Deep Clean Cleanser, which is great if you have spot-prone skin or if it is one of those hormonal/stressful/break-outy times.
I can see why this product is called Delicious Body Balm. It smells gorgeous! I’ve been using it for a few days and it’s leaving my skin feeling supple and hydrated.
I use face oils a lot. I think they’re fantastic for balancing the skin and hydrating it at night or under my moisturiser during the day. This contains the essential oils rose geranium and frankincense and it smells so good. It has a great price point and leaves my skin feeling great.
I’m really enjoying using the Minimum range and the owner is so lovely. I can highly recommend their products. They even sell Gift Boxes AND have natural wax candles (and we all know my addiction to candles) that are limited edition so I might just need to swipe one up before they sell out!
Lani
“Founded in May 2014, Lani has become well established in the green beauty scene. Lani stands for natural, vegan, cruelty-free skin and hair care that doesn’t cost the earth. The brand is also multi-award winning and all the products are packaged into glass bottles and jars, are made with high quality, food-grade ingredients and are always free of parabens, synthetic fragrances, silicones, mineral oils and animal-derived ingredients.”
I actually have a discount code you can use for 15% off all Lani products. It’s luxlani15. This Tropical Fruit Radiance Mask is packed full of wonderful ingredients that are tailored to hydrate, brighten and revive dehydrated, dull and tired complexions.
I have my eyes on their Blue Mind Facial Cleanser, which is what I’ll be getting for Christmas.
Love Absolute
How beautiful is the Love Absolute branding? This plant-based and cruelty-free brand create all their products from plants, seeds and oils that help the bees, bats and insects not only survive but thrive. Love Absolute was founded by a lady called Sarah who grew up in the Cotswolds, surrounded by nature. Sarah wanted to use her experience and knowledge to create healthier and more loving holistic products, from vibrant botanicals, to bring the spirit of a natural spa experience into your daily skincare ritual.
This Soulful Spice Exfoliate Balm is a newfound favourite product of mine. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me using it the other night and raving about how good it smells and how much my skin was glowing afterwards. You use it as a facemask and leave it on your skin for around 15 minutes and then as you’re removing it, it gently exfoliates your skin. Just beautiful.
This Immortal Flower cream contains Blue Chamomile and Helichrysum essential oils so it smells herby and gorgeous. The cream feels really silky and applies like a dream! The ingredients in this cream are great. It contains oils such as White Poppy Seed Oil and Organic Thistle oil. It’s a real treat for your skin.
Innerbark
Innerbark is quite a new to me brand. Formed in 2019 by husband and wife, Paul & Nichola, to offer the consumer an informed choice of sustainable beauty products. The packaging their products come in is compostable, which really impresses me. I have their Gold Melt Cleansing Gel, which is, as the name suggests, a gorgeous rich colour gold. This cleansing gel is packaged with vitamins and antioxidants.
I love this Collagen Boosting Night Cream! It contains squalene, Parsley extract and Emerald Powder. I really like the way it smells and how it feels on my skin. It absorbs in almost instantly! Very impressed!
Nudge Boutique
I’ve had my eye on this brand for a while and purchased a couple of products with the intention of gifting them to people for Christmas but that doesn’t seem to have happened. Nudge Boutique was founded by a lady called Jo. Jo loves formulating soap, skin and hair care products and it shows!
The Saffron Petal Glow 3-in-1 cleansing powder is fantastic. You can use it as a cleanser, an exfoliant or a mask. It is fragranced with neroli, which smells great! It also contains bamboo fibres and jojoba seeds.
I know I love the rattle on a lot about the way products smell, but that’s because I really appreciate a natural smelling product. These balancing shampoo tablets are perfect for combination hair. They contain may chang and pink grapefruit, which is what gives them that incredible smell. They also contain apple cider vinegar, which leaves your hair feeling really soft. These clever tablets don’t leave that claggy feeling that is rather common in natural shampoos and they give the feel of a bottle clean shampoo feel I bought mine with a tin to keep them in, which comes separately.
Boo Cottage Botanicals
This is a completely new to me brand. I discovered them today whilst at a Christmas market in Taunton. How could I not come home with something wonderful from their gorgeous range? I choose this Borage and Calendula cream from their British range. This is made from 100% British grown and produced ingredients. I chose this one because borage is such an incredible ingredient. I actually used to grow my own. It’s brilliant for all skin types and I like to use it on stings and rashes.
Boo Cottage Botanicals had so many gorgeous products to choose from (including a beautiful pink cleansing balm!), I also selected this Coastal Solid Lotion Bar. It contains sea buckthorn and plantain (I used to pick plantain during our farming days and make balms from it!). This lotion bar is a beautiful yellow colour. I can’t wait to use it!
Butterwhips
Having discovered this brand over a year ago, it’s still a firm favourite. I’ve been using this butter religiously on my wrist where I had a rash lately and there’s no sign of it coming back. I’ve reviewed their products many times. You can even buy them on LoveLula now!
