I feel like time goes really slowly during lockdown and I’m quite sure we all feel this way. So, what to do with our time? I’m open to new ideas so feel free to add your favourite hobbies in the comments section. I thought I’d share with you a few things to keep busy whilst we’re stuck at home.
I’m a massive fan of jigsaw puzzles and since buying my new puzzle board there’s no stopping me. I find doing a jigsaw puzzle really good for my mind because it keeps me occupied. This one was 1000 pieces and I completed it with various family members because the sky was all purple and took up a large portion of the puzzle so prived quite tricky. My next couple of puzzles are only 500 pieces so I feel like they should be far easier going. This one was a gift but I’ve been buying my last few puzzles from eBay because they’re preloved and less expensive.
I’m fortunate to live in the countryside, so it’s easy for me to go for a walk with my dog and not see another person in the fields where I go. Getting out in the fresh air is so beneficial and moving your body always makes you feel better (unless it’s raining, in which case you’ll find me at home!).
A DIY Project
I love a bit of a revamp and we have a dolls house that has been passed between my children and my friend’s children for years. It’s been looking rather well-loved for a while now. Time for a new look! I’ve discovered Dolls House Wallpaper which is a super-easy way to give your doll’s houses a new look! You literally just peel back the sticky paper and away you go!
Cooking & Baking
Cooking and baking are lovely things to do when you’re at home. Making sure yourself and your family are well nourished is one of the best things you can do. We all know baking banana bread was like the most popular thing to come out of kitchens during the first lockdown last year. I wonder what it will be during this lockdown. I, personally, plan to perfect the sourdough loaf.
Selfcare & Pampering
You can take this time to really perfect your perfect skincare routine. I love skincare. It’s one of my favourite ways to spend time. Do facemasks, try different cleansers, toners and moisturisers. See what your skin really works well with. Have a daytime bath (unless you live in a house like mine where you only have a shower!! I do so miss having baths!). Pamper yourself and look after your skin. My favourite shop for green beauty is LoveLula.
I hope this has given you a few ideas of what to do whilst you’re at home. Whatever you do, remember kindness is key. If you feel like sitting at home and binge-watching Netflix, that’s okay too.
Stay home and stay safe x
