Wild deodorants have been on my radar since last summer. I was using one of their deodorants in my van whilst I was away. At the time, they were in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign. Now, they’re back! New packaging, new scents and a completely new look! A few people have asked me what I think so I thought I’d do a review for you. I also have a discount code to share with you at the end of this post.
Sustainability is everything to Wild and they’re on a mission to shake up the single-use plastic culture. The deodorant holders are made from aluminium. and the refills are made from bamboo pulp.
The cartridge is super easy to pop into the holder. You squeeze the two buttons on the sides to slide the case apart, place in the refill (minus the cap) into the case, twist up the bottom and you’re ready to rock and roll! It’s a fantastic design and the case looks beautiful.
Why Use A Natural Deodorant
I switched to a natural deodorant six years ago when my then eight-year-old daughter wanted to use my antiperspirant and the thought horrified me. I thought I can’t tell her not to use one when I’m using it myself so my green beauty journey began there and I haven’t looked back since. I’ve written about natural deodorants many times in the past.
An antiperspirant blocks your pores and prevents you from sweating, which is crazy because your pores need to be able to rid themselves of toxins. What you need is something to stop the bacteria from smelling, which is where deodorant come into it. I could go into a whole rant about the ingredients in some “regular” deodorants, such as aluminium (to stop your pores from releasing perspiration) and parabens (a preservative that mimics oestrogen), but I’m sure you already know they’re BAD!
Wild are completely transparent about the ingredients in their natural deodorants and have an entire page explaining exactly what is in them here. The parfum comes entirely from essential oils (and they smell very mild but very lovely).
They’re all ingredients I’m happy to put on my skin. They contain no hidden nasties.
Is It Effective?
I expect a LOT from my deodorants. I like them to keep me smelling fresh through everything I do, working at our allotment, cycling, dog walk, etc. My teenage daughter is a dancer so she expects hers to work through all of her dancing and her workouts that she does. We really put them to work! I also like them to work for 24 hours. I don’t want to necessarily shower before bed, but I don’t want to smell body odour when I go to bed with. So, with that said, how do these hold up?
Excellently, is how! I’m really impressed. I obviously have a wash in the mornings and apply new deodorant but asides from that, I don’t need to reapply during the day or anything and they work really well!
Buying The Deodorant
So I bought mine as a one-off with three of the refill cartridges because I wanted to see what it was like and people had asked for my opinion. You can buy it as a subscription where you get the case and one refill for £12 which is a flexible subscription and then £15 for a pack of three thereafter. I think that’s a great price at working out at just £5 per refill.
I highly recommend these deodorants. You can get 10% off by entering the code LIFEOFLOVELY10
