My March Favourites

Monthly favourites posts are always one of my favourite posts to both read and write.  I have had such a great month this month. I’ve really enjoyed the snow, I’ve seen the first signs of Spring and we’ve spent lots of time together as a family.

Snow Days!

snow on Chard highstreet

When the snow first arrived, MrLovely dragged everyone around our little cul-de-sac in a sledge from the back of his Landrover. It was so much fun!! I have loads of footage that I might get round to turning into a vlog. We’ll see.snow day sledging

The second time it snowed, our family, along with the Bates’ (our best friends) made a snowman called Toburates (a combination of everyone’s surnames) and an igloo. They were both awesome! The snow makes everything look beautiful and feel cosy. It had been so long since we last had snow and we really did enjoy it so much. MrLovely was even in the paper for his efforts in rescuing strangers that got stuck or stranded.

We were forecast more snow for the Easter weekend but it didn’t turn up.  I’m okay with that.  The time that we did have with snow was fantastic and we created some lovely memories.

Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult

small great things

I love Jodi Picoult’s books and I’ve read most of them. This one was brilliant.  It follows the story of a midwife named Ruth who becomes the victim of racial discrimination at work.  A baby dies and things get very ugly. It really opened my eyes so much more to racism and the discrimination that black people are still subjected to. It was shocking, gripping and kept me hanging on wanting to find out what was going to happen. The ending was unexpected. It was a great read!  I learnt some valuable lessons from this book.  You can buy a copy here.

Sukin Purified Facial Masque

Sukin Purifying facial masque

I’ve been obsessed with face masks for the last few months. This face mask is a delicious smelling, it smells like marzipan. It’s a lovely smooth consistency to apply and feels great on my skin. It’s easy to remove and my skin is left feeling cleansed, pampered and loved. I’ve used this many times and I’ll continue doing so until it runs out. I love Sukin products. I’m yet to find one I don’t love.

Bee venom face mask

Bee Venom Mask from Living Nature

Whilst I’m on the subject on face masks, I’ve also used this tonight.  My interest was piqued by its name.  Bee venom?  It left my skin feeling lovely!  Lissy and I had a bit of a pamper evening and relaxed each with a sheet mask on.  I’d been eager to try this but as I did an extended Veganuary, I hadn’t been able to, until now.

Firstly, this mask provides a 100% natural alternative to synthetic masks currently on the market. Living Nature uses a certified organic cotton fibre paper mask to deliver the bee venom to the skin, which provides a pleasant, warming sensation upon application.  Known for its anti-ageing effect, Bee Venom is a complex mixture of proteins with unique pharmacological activity and can be used cosmetically to stimulate the skin into thinking it has been lightly stung andmother and daughter sheet masks cause the body to encourage the production of collagen and elastin.  Bee Venom also aids absorption of other ingredients and allows the mask’s Manuka Honey to penetrate deeper into the skin.

Bee Venom has been used for thousands of years but it’s only in recent times that safe methods of obtaining the venom have been devised.  Living Nature’s New Zealand supplier is the first in the world to produce organic Bee Venom, which is harvested in a safe and ethical way.  Also rest-assured, Living Nature loves their bees, which kindly produce Manuka Honey and Bee Venom and have not, will not and do not condone testing on animals or animal cruelty.  You can purchase yourself one of these from here.

Intimina Lily cup

I’ve been using menstrual cups for a few years but I’d only ever used the mooncup.  It works fine but there were a few little niggles that I had about it (it stains and looks terrible, I’d cut the stem too short, I didn’t like the little holes, etc – nothing major).  When I was invited to try Intimina’s Lily Cup I was more than happy to oblige.  I’ve loved other Intimina products.

There are a few things that set this one aside as a brilliant product.  The very best thing is probably its non-spill rim.  More times than I prefer to tell people, I’ve taken my menstrual cup out at an undesirable angle and spilt my blood all over the floor.  The rim on the Lily cup prevents this from happening.  The stem is longer so it’s easier to remove.  The colour of the cup means any age staining is disguised.  I was really pleased with this cup and I’ll be continuing to use this one over my mooncup.  The only things I did note was that as it’s shaped at the top (the tall part needs to face your spine) it’s tricky to insert it facing the correct way.  I’ll be making a video about this one soon so keep your eyes peeled on my YouTube channel.  You can purchase your own cup from here.  They have some new designs that I’d be interested to try.

Spring Flowers

As a florist, of course I love flowers.  I do adore spring though.  I feel like it brings with it the promise of warmer weather and happy months ahead.  I’ve really enjoyed having an array of both spring plants and flowers on my desk and around our home.  They look beautiful and flowers like daffodils and hyacinths smell beautiful.  What is more beautiful than a jug full of fresh tulips?  Aah, they do make me happy.

Yep.  I’ve been watching this.  I didn’t ever watch the original, it was a little before my time.  It’s total fluff, I’m learning nothing but I’m enjoying it.  Falon Carrington is a total bi-atch and Blake Carrington is a wallet on legs that’s pretty devoid of any sort of personality.  I love it!  It’s on Netflix so, if you haven’t already seen it, I’d recommend you add it to your watch list.

I’ve got lots more skin care and makeup loves to share with you, but I’m going to do a Spring Makeup post so I’ll save it all for that.  Hope you’ve all had a lovely Easter.  Thanks for reading.
