The Importance Of Good Nutrition

I’m frequently telling people what they put in their body has the way to change (their epigenetics) the way their DNA behaves.  This is why it’s so important to make good choices, particularly when you’re in a hurry and don’t have time to prepare a snack.

I feel like snacking often has a bad reputation.  How many times were we told as children not to snack because it will ruin our meal?  How many times have you been made to feel guilty for snacking?

Snacking Is Your Friend

Snacking is actually really good for you.  It gives you an energy boost and keeps you from making bad choices (well, depending on what you choose to snack on!).  I have at least two snacks per day and am staying well within my allotted SmartPoints with Weight Watchers.

Pulsin – My Recent Discovery

Pulsin have recently changed their look.  I love the designs of their packaging, it has an ethnic and bohemian feel to it.  They very kindly sent me a few of their Protein Boosters to sample (which are 8sp each, by the way).  Here’s what their website says about them;

I love that Pulsin are waging a war on sugar.  This pleases me a lot.  They use natural sugars like fruits and xylitol (regular readers will know of my love for xylitol).  Pulsin depend on natural ingredients and organic goodness, our products are free from nasties, high in protein and low GI.  They have something for all nutritional requirements.

 

The Taste Test

These Protein boosters are packed with plant-based protein.  Having read the ingredients, I really didn’t know what to expect.  Pea protein?  I did not know if that would be yummy!

Upon first tentative nibble, I was pleasantly surprised.  The bar had a very different consistency to what I was expecting.  It felt a little bit grainy on my tongue.  The taste surprised me.  I really didn’t expect to like it, having read the ingredients list, but it was surprisingly good.  I do get that slump in energy in the afternoon and these were great at combatting that.

 

Would I Buy Them?

Yes.  I can honestly say these are something I would purchase.  They’re brilliant to eat when you’re on the go and you want something healthy that will sustain you until dinner.  They were great for my teenager to take with her to eat after a run too.  I know LissyLu would be keen to try the children’s range.  The protein powders particularly interest me because I’ve been having daily shakes/smoothies for breakfast and have been including various superfood powers in them.

    It is interesting to read your review as I am always looking for snacks to bring to the gym with me. I didn’t hear about plant protein before but I am willing to try them out if you say they are delicious.
