Makeup has always been a passion of mine. I love applying it and both myself and other people and I love that it can change the way you look and make you feel more confident. Since cutting out toxins in my skincare routine four years ago, I adore testing out new green beauty product. Because of this, my favourite makeup products are constantly changing and evolving. I wrote about my spring makeup last year so I’m well overdue with updating you on my current favourites.
BON Anti Ageing Face Cream 50ml
I love this moisturiser. One of my favourite things about it is the smell. It reminds me of being young and watching my mum moisturise her face of a morning. She has always used Oil Of Olay (very naughty!) but I’ve managed to even transition her over to this gorgeous cream!! This face alone is a great review because, despite being a cancer survivor, trying to transition her over to more natural products is a nightmare! I regularly use this one as it’s my go-to upstairs moisturiser once I’ve washed my face in the mornings. You can buy this product here.
Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Organic Facial Moisturiser – SPF30 120ml
This is my absolute go-to moisturiser if I’m setting foot outside. It has SPF30 in it and the sneaky UV rays are always there so this ensures I have a base protection on if I’m just nipping out but not spending time in the sun (in which case, I’d use a standalone suncream). I love that is has a pump dispenser so I don’t have to poke my fingers in it. It smells good and absorbs into my skin fully. It’s lasting well since I bought this back in February and have been using it every single day (3 pumps). I’m about a third of the way through it. You can buy this product here.
Madara Moonflower Tinting Fluid 50ml
This is one of my all-time favourite products ever. It gives you a light coverage in place of a foundation. I love the botanical-like smell of it and it absorbs into my skin, leaving my skin looking even toned, concealed and healthy. Having a more mature skin, this doesn’t settle into my pores, which is very important to me. Also, this contains SPF15. I wear the shade Moonflower because it’s more suited to pinky skin tones. I can’t imagine finding another tinted moisturiser that I love as much as this one. I’ve been using it since February and I’m confident it will remain a part of my skincare routine. You can buy this product here.
Conceal + Correct from Clove And Hallow
Transitioning from a toxic concealer and a natural one, I would say, has been my biggest battle. I’ve recently discovered some fantastic concealers but this is my favourite. It’s incredible!!!! I have it in the shade 02 for my dark under eye area and 03 for everywhere else. They’re both a great colour match for me. These go on beautifully, they blend well and they’re very buildable. I haven’t had anything they’ve failed to conceal. They look so natural and I love, love, love them. I do have to keep a watch on them because Lissy also loves them and they keep disappearing from my makeup bag so I suspect I’m going to have to buy her her own (she’s shade 02). The only negative was that I had to import these in from the US, which wasn’t cheap. You can purchase these products from here.
Hynt Beauty – Duet Perfecting Concealer
This is another favourite concealer of mine. I discovered this one a few months ago and it’s lovely. It’s from a shop in Brighton called Glow Organic, so it’s more accessible than the one I talked about above. I use my fingers to apply this and it works brilliants. I’ve found it can drag a little when applying it to your under eye area. I love that it comes in a little glass jar. I would recommend you buy it slightly darker than you think because I think it comes up lighter. You can purchase this product from here.
Ere Perez Chamomile Eyeshadow Palette – Gorgeous 6g
I’ve recently been using the Ere Perez eyeshadow palette in the shade Gorgeous on my eyes. I’ve written a full review of this product here. I tend to stick to neutral eyeshadow colours in brown hues. This has a range of 6 different shades and they’re very easy to blend and build with. You can purchase this product from here.
Jane Iredale Eye Shadow Kit in Naturally Glam
Another of my favourite eyeshadow palettes is this Jane Iredale palette. It’s very pigmented, which is nice. I do wish I had the matte finish, but as this was a Christmas present back in February, beggars, can’t be choosers. This kit consists of 5 shades of, you guessed it, neutral, earthy tones. They’re brilliant for a natural look or for a more glam evening look. You can buy this product from here.
SoulTree Kajal – Pure Black 011 – 3g
This is a more recent discovery. I love this eye kajal, I’ve been wearing it in the shade Pure Black. No idea what a kajal is, but I use this as an eyeliner and it’s amazing. Super easy to apply, minimal fallout during the time wearing it and super blendable if you wanted a softer line. I think this eyeliner would be trickier to do a flick with though. I love this so much, I’ve just bought it in the shade Rich Loam for the days when I want brown eyeliner. You can shop these products here.
Ere Perez Natural Almond Oil Mascara – Black 10ml
Once my eye makeup is completed, I curl my lashes and put a couple of this mascara on. It stays on really well and makes my eyelashes appear much thicker and longer than the stubby little hairs that I’m blessed with. You can buy this product from here.
Bronzer, Contour & Highlighter
Jane Iredale GreatShape Contour Kit Cool
This contour kit comes in two shades – cool and warm. I chose the shade cool because I’m naturally quite pale. The blush is a lovely shade for me and works really well with my colouring. It’s super pigmented so you don’t need much at all. The brown is a bit too orangey for me, but this is the one I have so I make it work. I don’t find the highlighter pigmented enough so I use an additional highlighter to give me a lovely shimmer. You can buy this product from here.
Tinted Lip Hydrator in Bliss by Living Nature
For daytime, this is a lipstick I find myself coming back to time and time again. I’ve written about it lots. It’s a really natural colour and it feels like you just have a lip balm on. It’s so nourishing and easy to wear! You can find this product here.
Ere Perez Carrot Colour Pot – Happy 6.5g
The is my favourite going out colour. I like the packaging as it comes in a little glass pot. It’s extremely pigmented so I apply it using a brush because I suspect it would stain my fingers were I to use to fingers to apply it. I’ve only ever worn it on my lips, though it is also a cheek tint. Happy is a gorgeous shade and does make me smile. It lasts well and I love this. You can buy this product here.
This concludes what I’m wearing at the moment. Well, not exactly at this moment because I’m currently sat here with a completely bare face, bar last night’s moisturiser. I hope this has helped you discover some new brands or maybe I’ve given you an idea of alternatives to switch out your more toxic makeup for. Remember, what you put on your skin, goes straight into your bloodstream so it really is important.
