The first LoveLula box of 2018 arrived on my doorstep at the tail-end of last week. The LoveLula box is an excellent value green beauty subscription box. You can read more about it here.
I’m going to start by telling you about the first item in the box, which is bittersweet for me, but very good for you. It’s a blooming good one!
MOA – Magic Organic Apothecary Fortifying Green Bath Potion 100ml
When I opened the box and saw there was an MOA tube in there, not gonna lie, a bit of wee nearly did come out! (The MOA Green Balm was on my top list of 2017). On closer inspection, I read that this is a bath potion, which broke my heart a little bit. We have no bath – boo! I miss having a bath every week. Who rips out a bath and replaces it with a shower? Barbaric! So… I can’t use this product because it’s too cold to chuck this fish out of their pond for me to take it over as a bath. Not that I’d actually ever do that. I do really miss having a bath though.
It’s good for you because I’m going to give it away to one very lucky reader! Details at the bottom of this post.
Laidbare Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow! Hair Minimising Cream 125ml
This is really convenient because I do actually need a moisturiser for my legs. About the hair minimising thing though, I haven’t shaved my legs for a good few months. Firstly, why does society dictate that it’s normal for women to shave their legs? Why don’t men shave their legs? Why do women feel like they need to shave off their body hair? It really confuses me. Secondly, no one sees my legs except MrLovely and he’s at one with me looking like something out of Gorillas In The Mist. I do keep my lady garden very trimmed, mind you. That’s more for hygiene reasons though (okay, also for aesthetics – shut up…).
Right, yes, I’m supposed to be reviewing the product, not waffling away about pubes. I wasn’t expecting the moisturiser to look the way it does. It comes out like an opaque, viscous gel, which I thought was interesting. I had to check the tube to make sure it was a moisturiser and not a shaving emollient or a cleanser. I like the way it smells, which also isn’t what I expected. It’s a natural, almost aniseedy, citrusy smell. Sorry for being so rubbish at describing smells. It is a lovely smell and it feels really cooling and soothing to apply. When this runs out, I’ll buy it again, which is a good sign. It’s a great price too, at just £6.99. See it here.
PHB Ethical Beauty Brightening Eye Gel with Organic Eyebright & Neroli 15ml
I was surprised to find an eye cream in the box because we had one in our November box but I wasn’t disappointed because I love PHB as a brand. I haven’t had an eye cream as a part of my skincare routine until very recently so it’s been good trying this. I find the PHB products always smell incredible and this one is no exception. I think it’s the neroli. With this eye cream, I always take too much out. It’s a little tube containing just 15ml but you only need the teeniest little blob for both of your eyes. It does absorb in really quickly. It’s the only moisturiser I’ve worn on my skin today (since I always put too much on, it does my whole face…). You can read more about this eye cream here.
Madara Time Miracle Total Renewal Night Cream 20ml
I bought a night cream the week prior to my box arriving, but it’s fine because this one is quite different. The smell, again (sorry about talking about the smells so much, but I’ve had a cold for over a week and I can finally smell again and everything smells so good!!) is really natural and herb-esque. It’s a really light cream and absorbs into really well. My skin felt quite silky after applying this. I look forward to trying this more. You can read more about it, or buy it from here.
Please do enter the competition below. Good luck.
I really enjoy my LoveLula subscription boxes. I can highly recommend them. Thanks for reading.
